Business Development Manager The Netherlands (native-level Dutch required)


Are you eager to take ownership of the full sales cycle from following-up inbound leads, generating outbound opportunities, qualifying leads and closing deals with clients in a number of proven industries?

The Dutch market is Amberscript’s home market with high-profile references and a well-established brand name. We have a number of well-known customers and references in a variety of industries and there is significant traction in the market.

It will be your focus to acquire new clients to bring this promising market to the next level. In close collaboration with the founders, you will develop opportunities in clearly defined verticals, you will set up new partnerships and you will close deals in a steadily growing market.

We are Amberscript, a dynamic startup with the goal to make audio accessible by transforming it into text. With the best speech-recognition algorithms in the market, we save our customers hundreds of thousands of hours of manual labor and we enable thousands of people with auditory impairments (deaf and hard of hearing) to understand video and audio more easily.

We are in the process of disrupting a very traditional market (transcription & subtitling). Now that we have achieved product-market fit, we are scaling rapidly. Our AI speech to text engine obtains the best results in the market, as proven by independent tests in the media. Our product is being used by more than 500.000 users worldwide. The Dutch market is one of our most mature markets, our product is well-known and our enterprise solutions are used by a number of high profile clients in education, government, media, broadcasting, video-production and research.

What you will achieve:
  • You will take our list of target accounts and approach prospects via different outbound channels. Within the first 6 months, you will sign your first high-profile customer.
  • You will represent Amberscript on trade shows and other networking events
  • You will build upon an existing network of partners and sign new partnership agreements
  • After growing the market significantly, you will lead the growing the Dutch commercial team consisting of Inside Sales Representatives and Account Managers.

In this role, you will be the face and driver of growth of Amberscript for the Dutch market. The market is wide open, there is a clear demand for high-quality speech recognition and captions which is driven by a national legislation.

  • Generating and closing outbound deals (60% of your time)
  • Closing and maintaining partnerships (20% of your time)
  • Determining our go-to-market strategy (20% of your time)

Your profile:
  • 5-10 years of experience in a sales, consulting or startup environments
  • Entrepreneurial by nature, eager to learn and to discover and conquer your market
  • Proven track-record of selling enterprise solutions to large organizations and universities
  • ‘Consultative selling’ is something that comes natural to you
  • Self-organized. Together with our commercial co-founder, you’ll be in charge of developing the go-to market strategy and executing on it.
  • Flexibility to work in a startup environment with team-members from all over the world
  • A strong passion for disruptive technology.
  • Native language skills in Dutch
  • Experience in the Higher-Education industry is a strong plus
